Things are starting to get serious

Club-306 is Peugeot car owners club based in the UK. It was founded and is run by me after my enthusiasm with the Peugeot 306 brand. When launched in June 2006 it was primarily a niche market forum catering for the Peugeot 306 Dturbo model. By January 2008 it had swelled to a member base of over 3400 registered members and the forum area had attracted over 100,000 user contributed posts.
I have built this site from the ground up using MODx as the content management system and Invision Power Board as the discussion forum software. Page layouts and graphics were all produced in house, however the Club-306 website will shortly be re-styled during the second quarter of 2008.
In August 2007 I took Club-306 as an experimental program to see how search engine optimisation could improve the number of visitors to the website over time. At the end of a six month trial I had improved the website page structure, redesigned the home page for better usability and increased the amount of quality content. In addition I set out to increase the number of quality inbound links to the website over a number of landing pages.
At the end of the trial in January 2008 I reviewed the Google analytics data to find that the number of unique visitors to the site had nearly doubled, to around 9,500 unique visitors each day. The number of page views rose by a similar amount to around 135,000 a month. The number of visitors from search engines nearly tripled and the Club-306 now ranks highly in Google for many popular terms in this niche market.
To view the analytics reports for yourself I have provided them here for download. These will show that with a carefully planned search engine optimisation plan you too can benefit from a huge increase in traffic for your web business.
