Winter Sunrise over Highbridge, Somerset on Flickr. It’s time for another photo from my Flickr photostream and today it’s a winter sunrise.
Commuting on the train to Bristol has over the years had it’s highs and it’s lows. Every time the train is delayed makes me wonder why I put myself through it, however sometimes being a passenger on the train allows you to see things you would normally not even notice.
Here is a great example of one of the more enjoyable moments of travelling by train. On going to work one morning I was lucky enough to capture this amazing sunrise. Luckily I had my trusty Sony Cybershot K800i with me, such a great camera on a tiny mobile phone.

Weather Looming on Flickr.Another photo from my Flickr photostream, today I’m reminiscing a holiday in Cornwall back in 2006…
This shot was taken on the way back from a camping holiday in Cornwall with my partner (now Wife) Jacqueline. We stopped off at Postbridge to talk a walk over Clapper Bridge and had our lunch in the long grasses next to the river. The weather was warm but overcast, with threatening looking clouds overhead but luckily nothing came of it.
This was the last shot of the weekend as I had forgot to charge the batteries. Another example of better luck than judgement, although I do like the feel of the shot and it’s ability to bring back the memories of that day.

M5 Junction 19, Gordano Motorway Services on Flickr.Over the coming few weeks I’m going to be sharing some of my favourite photos from the last 10 years. All of them were taken by me, most of them through luck rather than judgement as up until recently I’ve been a “full auto” photographer most of the time.
So lets start with a night shot taken just outside Bristol.
Coming home from Uni one weekend I stopped off at the services for a coffee and a short break. I had my camera and tripod with me as I was going back to my parent’s house for a few days so while I was here I thought maybe I’d have a go at trying to capture the passing traffic.
The camera was a Finepix F10, basic by today’s standards but very well received at the time and probably my favourite point and click that I’ve owned.
3 seconds, f5, iso80.

The Moon on Flickr. Finally a photo that is almost in focus, at least to the point of being acceptable. The next time I try I shall have to set up the tripod and use a shutter release so I can increase the exposure time slightly and lower the ISO.

Helios 44M 2/58 lens. Handheld @ f4 on my Canon 450D.
I really cannot believe the sharpness of this lens, it’s the first manual focus I’ve bought and I’m so impressed. This particular lens is older than I am! They really don’t make them like they used to.
